More than 250 students from 32 London schools gathered at News UK's London Bridge headquarters today (Tuesday, 10 February) for the News Academy London Conference.
The conference was officially opened by Shadow Education Secretary and former broadcast journalist, Tristram Hunt MP. Mr Hunt shared his own views on the journalism profession, telling students:
There’s a great career in and opportunity for journalism, particularly in London.
Hunt’s opening address was followed by a number of break-out sessions, where News UK journalists including The Times Deputy Editor Emma Tucker and Managing Editor of The Sun Stig Abell offered insights into their working lives, how they got started and their advice for budding journalists.
This monthly conference was part of a programme of activity from the News Academy - News UK’s flagship programme focused on investing in and inspiring the next generation of journalists.
