The Times Scotland supports gender summit

The Times Scotland supported a major gender summit in Edinburgh this week.

Our title was media partner to the fourth Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI) Gender Summit at the Hub in central Edinburgh on July 24.

Titled ‘A Better Balance’, the summit featured a number of high-profile speakers including First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland Tory leader Ruth Davidson, tennis coach Judy Murray, England women’s netball coach Tracey Neville and News Scotland & Ireland MD Richard Bogie.

The afternoon was hosted by BBC journalist and broadcaster Sarah Smith.

More than 180 people from the world of sport, business and entertainment gathered at the Hub to explore the opportunities to drive positive change within each sector.

PANEL DEBATE: Ruth Davidson makes a point

Magnus Llewellin, editor of The Times Scotland, said: “The Times Scotland was delighted to be supporting the fourth annual Gender Summit of Aberdeen Standard Investments. It is an excellent initiative, firmly established in Scotland’s calendar of events.”

Bogie spoke in a panel session on ‘What can we learn from business and sport?’.

He said: “There is no doubt that other walks of life have a great deal to learn from the worlds of business and sport, and that they can also learn a lot from each other. A balanced team, containing all the strengths of its available members, will always be more successful than an unbalanced team. Achieving gender balance is good for society as a whole.”
