In an innovative and exciting move that shows its continuing commitment to children's books, The Sunday Times is launching a video series by Nicolette Jones. The new series by Sunday Times children's books editor and one of the most respected voices in Britain on young reading, will launch on 2 October 2016.

The series, a mixture of children's books recommendations and conversations with writers and illustrators, will run throughout the autumn until Christmas and be called ‘Nicolette Jones Recommends’.

The first video will run on Sunday 2 October and will feature Nicolette’s selection of non-fiction children’s books. This will be followed by interviews with writers including David Baddiel and Philip Reeve and recommendations of poetry books and books for Halloween and Christmas.

The videos will be filmed in Nicolette’s book room in North London and will run for approximately three to four minutes. They are being produced and supported by The Sunday Times. The plan is for the films to be available on The Sunday Times website.

Andrew Holgate, The Sunday Times literary editor, said:

Nicolette Jones is without doubt one of the most influential voices in children's literature, whose recommendations in The Sunday Times carry enormous weight. We're thrilled to be hosting and developing this video series with her. Giving children's books proper support is very important, and we hope that this innovative series will reach a really wide audience."

Nicolette Jones has been The Sunday Times children’s books editor for more than 20 years. She is a writer, critic and broadcaster who regularly chairs book events at literary festivals including Cheltenham, Oxford and Charleston. She has interviewed writers including Philip Pullman, Margaret Atwood and Erica Jong. In December 2015, Nicolette collaborated with Channel Four to produce The Nation’s 50 Favourite Children’s Books, presented by David Walliams, and wrote the accompanying Sunday Times digital supplement. Her list of the 100 best children’s books of the past 10 years is available on the Sunday Times website.
