The Sun pays for M6 tolls on Blue Monday

Monday 21 January is known as Blue Monday - officially the most depressing day of the year – so to help cheer people up The Sun is paying for tolls on the southbound route of the M6 motorway.

This means that, thanks to the UK’s best-selling newspaper, vehicles can pass through four specially manned lanes at the West Midlands’ M6 toll for free during the Monday morning rush hour.

The Sun’s Smile Squad and two Page 3 stunners will be on hand to pay your toll and give exclusive car window stickers to the lucky recipients, ensuring their day starts the right way.

The stunt is part of The Sun’s Big Smile Giveaway campaign, which launched on January 1. The campaign runs for three months and will be providing offers to make you smile through to spring, such as free family days out at top UK attractions, free family cinema tickets and free Lego.

A new free app will also go live on Monday. The Sun Smile App provides a selection of the day’s best sport and entertainment stories to give people the feel good factor. The app will be available on iOS and Android until the end of March, and can be downloaded through The Sun’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/thesun

Rob Painter, Marketing Director, The Sun, said: "The aim of The Sun’s Big Smile Giveaway campaign is to get Britain smiling, and so we’re cheering up M6 commuters by paying their rush hour toll.

"Adding the launch of The Sun Smile App into the mix, which will give people access to 15 of our best stories every day for free, we’re confident The Sun has the best antidote to beat the January blues."
