The Sunday Times launched a new 12-page family magazine at the weekend for home learners; The Funday Times Home Classroom.
The magazine provides families with primary school aged children from year 1 - 6 with inspirational and fun activities, exercises and ideas based off the national curriculum and the key subjects.
The Sunday Times partnered with Oak National Academy (ONA), an organisation run by 40 schools to help parents homeschool their children during lock-down, to create this magazine for at least the next four weeks.
Every page includes clear tips and guides for parents, to explain the point and purpose of the exercises. It will also include quizzes, competitions and contributions from a few famous faces such as a Oti Mabuse's children's book club and Bobby Seagull’s maths puzzles.
Emma Tucker, editor of The Sunday Times, said:
“We know many families have struggled with juggling homeschooling and working from home. As the summer school term was supposed to kick-off The Funday Times Home Classroom magazine will provide entertaining ideas and guides to help home learners of primary school age.”
David Thomas, Curriculum Director, Oak National Academy said:
"We are delighted to work with The Sunday Times to support parents educating their children. We cover maths, English, art and languages, with a range of activities from the academic to the creative."
This Sunday was the first edition, which included a feature with leading educational psychologist Cathy Creswell on how families can handle lockdown together.
The magazine will be available free with The Sunday Times in England and Wales from this weekend or via the website thesundaytimes.co.uk
