The emphatic seal of approval came from News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch as he visited The Sun’s exhibit at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show this morning (Monday).

This stunning four-part Sun Flower Square garden is co-ordinated by The Sun’s long-serving gardening editor Peter Seabrook in partnership with the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA).

KRM, at the popular show’s Press Day with wife Jerry Hall, told News.co.uk: “I love the garden. It’s fantastic all the work that has gone into it.”

The Sun legendary snapper Arthur Edwards, covering the show, said: “How appropriate that the Sun King has visited The Sun garden.”

The Great Pavilion garden features 40 new plant introductions – an exhibit record for a UK show. More than 80 companies contributed to the display.

One of the new plants is a chrysanthemum called ‘Princess Charlotte’ after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s daughter. The colour is pale baby pink with vibrant green tips.

This industry-first display features four model garden displays, each measuring four metres square.

The Room Outside is a patio that leads off double doors and features plants from HTA members.

The Hanging Garden celebrates the golden jubilee anniversary of the Garden Centre Association, while The Seed Trade display has plants from 10 leading seed brands.

The Rising Stars Garden takes on the Grow Your Own flowers, fruits and vegetables theme, featuring the work of young gardeners.

Seabrook, 80, who has been The Sun gardening editor for virtually half his life, said: “I feel there is something for all Sun readers here – whether you have a windowsill, small balcony, tiny paved area, larger garden or even an allotment.

“We have had 110 nurserymen, schools, colleges and apprentices growing things. I hope Sun readers will get inspiration from it. It shows what you can do with your average front garden.”

The Sun Flower Square gained a Silver-Gilt medal at the show, visited by the Queen on May 23. Also in the Royal party were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, the Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and his daughters, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.

The Queen, 90, was making her 51st visit to show at which the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took a look at the new chrysanthemum named after their daughter Charlotte.

The world-renowned Chelsea Flower Show is being held in the Royal Hospital grounds on May 24-28.

Third place in the Chelsea Plant of the Year 2016 competition went to a bright yellow daisy on The Sun exhibit from seed company Mr Fothergill’s.
