Ruth Emery, deputy Money editor at The Sunday Times, won National Journalist of the Year at a prestigious event last night.
At the Society of Pension Professionals’ annual dinner at Gibson Hall in London, Ruth won the award for her extensive reporting on pensions, and was praised for her “practical advice” and “clear and considered journalism”.
The journalism award brings her tally to six since joining the newspaper three years ago.
Hugh Nolan, president of the Society of Pension Professionals, said: “As people are increasingly taking personal responsibility for their own retirement planning, our members recognise the importance of Ruth’s consumer focus on pensions, her practical advice and uncompromising pursuit of solutions to the challenges posed on long-term savings. The clear and considered journalism – demonstrated by Ruth and The Sunday Times – plays a huge role in addressing the current advice gap in the UK and helps readers understand the issues more deeply.”
Ruth’s latest win comes just a couple of days before she starts maternity leave.
