The News UK Video team have won Best Native Advertising Campaign at the Digiday Europe Awards, at a ceremony held in London last night (Thursday).

The team created a video series under the theme of ‘The Surprise Party’ for Morrisons supermarkets. The premise was a deserving person in a community would think they were going for an interview with The Sun, a back story would be told how they had helped out in their neighbourhood. When they arrive for the interview all the people connected with them were there throwing a surprise party.

The series started with a party for Sister Jossi, a Nigerian nurse from Croydon. Then came Paul Dowsett, a police officer who trained cadets. Finally they featured Anne and Terry Panks, a foster couple who had taken in over 1000 kids in Manchester over the years.

The videos so far have had around 1.5 million views, and the team also provided Morrisons with some great feedback from Unruly’s SharRank index.

The category saw the team up against  Quartz & EY – ‘Building a Better Working World’FRIDA & Always #likeagirl – #jaggillarmig (“I like myself”) and  The New York Times – AI: What It Takes to Be Human at the awards do in December.
