We scooped a total of five accolades at three prestigious awards ceremonies last night (Tuesday).
At the Foreign Press Association in London Media Awards in Piccadilly, foreign correspondent Christina Lamb won the Print and Web Feature Story of the Year category for ‘A fight for the soul of the world’ for The Sunday Times Magazine.
The Times war zone correspondent Anthony Loyd was victorious in the Print and Web News Story of the Year section with ‘The man who shot me now works for the CIA’.
During the Amnesty International UK Media Awards in Central London last night, The Sunday Times foreign correspondent Marie Colvin was honoured with a special award.
Colvin, killed in an airstrike during 2012 while on assignment in Syria, was given posthumously a special Amnesty Media Impact award honouring her courage and unwavering commitment to human rights journalism.
Colvin was celebrated for her determination to uncover human rights abuses in war zones at personal cost to her own life, from Sri Lanka to Syria where she ultimately lost her life.
Her assignment photographer Paul Conroy received Colvin’s award.
In the awards’ photojournalism category, Robin Hammond emerged victorious with ‘Where love is illegal’ for The Sunday Times Magazine.
Times political cartoonist Peter Brookes won the Ellwood Atfield Political Cartoon of the Year Award. His cartoon (below) appeared in The Times on 8 July.
The Times' Morten Morland scooped Cartoonist of the Year.
