The Sunday Times chief sports writer David Walsh scooped a journalism award last night (Wednesday).
Walsh (pictured) won the special award at the annual James Cameron Memorial Lecture to recognise excellent journalism over a number of years held at City University London.
In other sporting news, two Times writers have been shortlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award.
Rick Broadbent is nominated for Endurance: The extraordinary Life and Times of Emil Zatopek and Oliver Kay for Forever Young: The Story of Adrian Doherty, Football’s Lost Genius.
Also on the list is the former Times football writer Rory Smith, who wrote Mister: The Men Who Taught the World How to Beat England at Their Own Game.
The winner, who will receive £28,000, will be named on November 24.
