News UK creates new role to drive its print and…

News UK announced today that sales and marketing specialist Tracey Hart has joined the company to take on the new role of Commercial Director of Operations to explore and develop new markets for its printing and distribution businesses.

News UK has three state-of-the-art printing plants located in Broxbourne, Knowsley and Glasgow. Together they print 1.2 billion copies of The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times each year, plus a further 800 million non-News UK titles for other publishers including The Financial Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Metro and The Evening Standard.

The company also controls the largest newspaper distribution operation in Britain and Ireland. As well as distributing through established wholesalers, News UK delivers to 6,000 retailers in London.

However even with its presses so busy, News UK still has extensive capacity remaining and Tracey’s role has been created to grow existing contracts and develop new customers for both its print and distribution services.

Tracey, formerly Head of Sales and Marketing Mail Publisher Solutions at DMG Media, was chosen for her extensive experience in providing revenue generating services to publishers, be that in print, distribution or other related services.

Chris Taylor, Chief Operating Officer of News UK, said:

While we embrace and adapt to the digital media age there is still a strong demand for printed media and our confidence is demonstrated through our investment in our print operations. Tracey brings a wealth of sales, marketing and strategic business development experience and she will be a real driving force maximising every opportunity to expand this important part of our business.

Tracey Hart, Commercial Director of Operations at News UK, said:

I am excited to be joining a company that believes so strongly in a bright future for printed media. However, in an ever more competitive market those publishers who save costs through the economies of scale offered by News UK’s operations will have the healthier bottom lines and I am looking forward to getting out there and spreading that message.
