We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the working day: so what was on the menu this morning?

A piping hot croissant straight out of the oven!

Sum up what you do at News UK in the shortest sentence possible.

I write a Super Thursday local elections newsletter, assist Patrick Maguire with the Red Box newsletter and write a column every Friday.

Lay a bit of context on that?

I try to find out what is going on in local government and how parties are getting on, and I support Patrick Maguire in making the best political newsletter in existence.

What attracted you to the role in the first place?

My love of politics and my desire for a role that was varied and exciting.

What’s the most interesting/challenging part of your job?

The most interesting part of the job is writing about such varied topics every week.

What are the three most important things on your working agenda today?

  1. Writing my Thursday newsletter.
  2. Writing my column.
  3. Interviewing sources.

Who is your role model? And why?

My mother. She is intelligent and talented and she managed to have a successful career while being a single parent.

What is your most treasured possession?

My silk pillowcase – I never travel without it.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Life is not a rehearsal, it’s showtime!

What one bit of advice would you give someone wanting to do your job?

Believe in yourself and listen to Matt Chorley on Times Radio.

Tell us something not many people know about you…?

My first name can be pronounced with a ‘V’.
