talkSPORT hosted a day for youngsters from Football Beyond Borders in The News Building today to give an insight into the world of radio.
The day, organised by Head of Outside Broadcast Kathryn Anastasi, is the start of a partnership between the charity and the station with masterclasses and practical activities throughout the day. Football Beyond Bordersuses the power of football as an educational tool to support young people who are disengaged at school to improve their behaviour for learning, academic performance and school engagement.
The students started the day with a tour of the studios and stopped off to meet Jim White and Martin Keown on the way.
Throughout the day, sessions were delivered by talkSPORT International executive editor, Tom Rennie, a commentary masterclass by Sam Matterface, social media tips from Jamie Sanderson and a football reporting masterclass by football editor David Walker.
The students were then given the tasks of recording their own commentary to live football in the mezzanine studios and documenting their day through Instagram stories.
The top Instagram story of the day was published on the talkSPORT Instagram channel to its 313k followers.
