The station has the rights to the main Saturday radio broadcasting slots, with live and exclusive games at 12.30pm, 3pm and 5.30pm and over a quarter more Premier League games this season.
GameDay sees talkSPORT ‘owning Saturday football’ and comes as part of a wider schedule revamp for the station. The news follows record RAJAR results for the talkSPORT network, led by The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
A new presenter line up, including Reshmin Chowdhury and Hugh Woozencroft, will be joined by former England internationals Darren Bent, Trevor Sinclair, Martin Keown and Glen Johnson, boasting over 1,400 Premier League caps between them. Leading commentator Clive Tyldesley also joins talkSPORT’s regulars for programming across the schedule and the football live commentary team, which includes Sam Matterface, Jim Proudfoot and the legendary John Motson.
Laura Woods, who has been regularly deputising for Alan Brazil at Breakfast, fronts the first new show - GameDay Countdown with The Friday Night Crew. The new look, Friday night, panel chat show is an interactive social media radio show that will look forward to all of Saturday’s action, with lots of fun and laughter along the way.
On Saturday, following the 12.30pm and 3pm fixtures, Adrian Durham is in the chair for The Full Time Phone-In at 5pm on talkSPORT 2, while Laura Woods and Darren Bent host the live 5:30pm fixture before giving listeners a further chance to have their say on the day's action in Gameday: Your Verdict until 10pm.
The station also launches a new football comedy quiz show format in the Sunday morning slot to find the best footballing brains, at 9:30-11am. Glory Hunters, hosted by stand-up comedian Charlie Baker pits celebrity football fans head to head to discover who can be titled the greatest. Charlie is joined by regular team captains Luke Moore (Football Ramble host) and Natalie Sawyer (talkSPORT mid-morning co-host & presenter of The Game podcast for The Times), alongside football loving panellists.
Meanwhile Jim White is reunited with Natalie Sawyer for the first time since their days at Sky Sports taking the 10am-1pm weekday talkSPORT slot. Former Crystal Palace Chairman, Simon Jordan, also gets a new and expanded role at the station with a titled show, Simon Jordan’s Final Word alongside Danny Kelly, on a Sunday (5pm-8pm) as well as other regular appearances across the schedule. Mark Saggers continues as host of Sunday Exclusives combining a fast around the grounds service with in depth analysis on the stories as they happen.
Plus, talkSPORT launches two new flagship podcasts: talkSPORT Daily and GameDay. talkSPORT Daily wraps up the biggest sporting stories and laughs into one podcast, published first thing each weekday morning. Whilst GameDay is talkSPORT's definitive podcast for Premier League fans, with GameDay preview, reaction and analysis across the weekend, featuring Sam Matterface, Laura Woods and Danny Kelly.
talkSPORT’s new lead presenter, Reshmin Chowdhury said: “Saturday is GameDay and there’s nowhere quite like talkSPORT to capture all the drama.
