Britain’s best-selling newspaper The Sun will tomorrow (Saturday) publish the FIRST retrospective book on England’s nail-biting World Cup campaign, in partnership with NewsUK stablemate Harper Collins.
The 192-page hardback book, England’s Heroes, is a celebratory tribute to Gareth Southgate, Harry Kane and their team of young lions who made history at the World Cup in Russia – and gave the British public a summer to remember.
With more than 120 full colour photographs, the book tells the national team’s story from the underwhelming reaction to Gareth Southgate’s appointment all the way to the ‘Waistcoat Wednesday’ fever which swept the country the day of England’s semi-final with Croatia.
The book will be available in booksellers across the country, and The Sun will be publishing a voucher in Saturday’s edition entitling readers to a significant discount at WH Smith’s.
Head of Sport at The Sun, Shaun Custis, says: “It was a summer of football that we’ll never forget and what better way to celebrate than to relive it all. The Sun led the way during the World Cup with coverage that left our rivals lagging, and we’re delighted to do the same with this brilliant-looking back.”
Publishing Strategy Director at HarperCollins, Oli Malcolm, said: “The whole country united behind the exciting performances of the England football team and it’s been brilliant for HarperCollins to partner with our wider colleagues at The Sun and NewsUK to create this fantastic tribute and an amazingly fast publication.”
