The Sunday Times Ireland and The Irish Sun have gathered 18 nominations between them, in Ireland’s National Newspaper Journalism Awards.
Colin Coyle is shortlisted three times in The Sunday Times’ haul of 10 nominations.
Their nominations are – Business Journalist: Coyle. Business Story: Gavin Daly. Broadsheet Columnist: Justine McCarthy and Ann Marie Hourihane. Critic: Graeme Lennox.
Investigative Journalism: McCarthy & Coyle. Political Journalist: Ken Foxe. Political Story: Coyle. Sports Writer: Ewan McKenna and Denis Walsh.
The Irish Sun has eight nominations. The paper dominates the Best Front Page category with two of the seven nominees and it also boasts two nods out of six in the Best Headline of the Year section.
Showbiz editor Ken Sweeney is in the running for Showbiz Journalist of The Year, while news reporter Kieran Dineen is up for two awards – Political Story and News Analysis.
Adam Higgins rounds off the individual nominees in the Young Journalist of The Year category.

The winners of the NewsBrands Ireland Journalism Awards 2016 will be announced at a ceremony in Dublin’s Mansion House on November 3.
