Staff from News UK packed Southwark Cathedral on Tuesday for the third annual News Building Carol Service.
The Dean of Southwark Andrew Nunn told the crowd: “It’s a real joy to welcome you here.”
He reflected on links between the nearby cathedral and The News Building as: “We are beating a good path between us.”
Very Rev Nunn highlighted News UK's involvement in the fundraising overnight sleep-out in the cathedral grounds to raise funds for Southwark homeless charity Robes in late November.
News UK's Chief Operating Officer David Dinsmore took part, raising more than £2,300, and there were further donations from the company.
Very Rev Nunn said: “We have raised £87,000 from the event. It was a tremendous piece of work and that is you being good neighbours in the community.”
The News Choir (above) sang five carols at the service, earning praise from Very Rev Nunn when saying: “Your choir did magnificently.”
There were readings from Dinsmore, Newsprinters MD Steve Whitehead, Fabulous magazine Editor Sinead McIntyre, Dow Jones global MD Katie Vanneck-Smith and William Collins and 4th Estate editorial director Andrew Lyon.
Pupils from News UK’s staff reading scheme primary school partners at Tower Bridge and Snowsfields also sang and there was a collection for Southwark Children’s Brass Band.
