July's ABCs success - how good stories can still shift…

News UK reigns in the latest figures released from the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) with The Times, the Sun and the Sun on Sunday all performing better, month on month, than their rivals over the month of July.

The Sun on Sunday held the top spot, benefiting from scoops on the Queen's Nazi salute and the Lord Sewel scandal, with sales jumping 5.4% month-on-month to a print circulation of 1,545,000. The figures were similarly buoyant for the Sun, with print sales up 2.1% to 1,857,000 copies.

Editor of the Sun, David Dinsmore, said:

“The Sun and The Sun on Sunday have had an exceptional month for stories and coverage of major events. This is reflected in the ABC figures.

I am immensely proud of our scoops – from the historic royal footage, to the Lord Sewel revelations –confirming that The Sun and The Sun on Sunday remain ahead of our competitors both in sales and rattling out great stories."

Sister title The Times was again the best performing newspaper year-on-year, with a month-on-month growth of 1.4% to 296,000 thanks to radio support for Ashes content and coverage around the Government's emergency budget.
