Trees for Cities
Our COO team took part in a tree planting day with our News Corp Giving charity partners Trees for Cities, at Ashton Playing Fields in Woodford, Essex.
The team planted 1800 trees across the day, to help block out the M11 motorway from the sports fields and increase the biodiversity of the area. The total number of trees planted was more than any other group has planted for Trees for Cities in one day. You can read more about Trees for Cities on their website and join one of their existing volunteer days.

The Sun Poppy Campaign
For almost 100 years, through thick and thin, the Royal British Legion has been there to offer financial and moral support to military families - thanks to the public’s generosity. But because Covid prevented vulnerable sellers from taking part, it looked likely that the 2020 Poppy Appeal would fall flat.
The Sun took on the cause, campaigning for six weeks to raise awareness of the Legion’s plight and persuading thousands of readers to donate online.
The Sun’s editor, Victoria Newton, committed five front pages to the campaign and added a poppy to the front page logo. The campaign was endorsed by celebrities including David Beckham, Holly Willoughby, James Blunt and Anthony Joshua. This ensured our message was circulated far and wide on social media. In six weeks, Sun readers donated £50,000 through their Sun Savers to the poppy appeal. And The Royal British Legion believes The Sun is directly responsible for more than £10m in public donations.
