HOWZAT! Now News UK adds international cricket to its great…

The Times, Sunday Times and The Sun to show clips and highlights of England’s home international matches across all digital platforms

Starting from May 2014, readers of The Sun, Times and Sunday Times will be able to watch all the wickets, boundaries and sixes in near live clips of England international cricket, including the next Ashes series.

Members of all News UK subscription packages (of both print and digital titles) are already enjoying video coverage of Premier League and FA Cup football as well Aviva Premiership rugby. This latest sports offering will give those members near-live international cricket coverage at home, work or on the move via PC, smartphone or tablet. This includes England’s Investec Test Matches, Royal London One Day Internationals, NatWest International T20s and selected domestic cricket matches.

Mike Darcey, CEO of News UK, said: “This new deal further strengthens our great sporting offer built around our world-class journalism. Thrilling football and rugby action is now joined by exciting England international cricket clashes so a subscription to one of our titles is a must for sports fans who want to keep up with the game in the digital era.”

ECB CEO David Collier said: “We are delighted to be entering into partnership with one of the UK’s biggest media companies and a major provider of high quality sporting content. Achieving increased digital exposure for the sport is a key priority for ECB and this agreement will enable England supporters to follow the team online across all three formats of the international game. “

The addition of the best cricket video action across the digital editions of our titles will add to our readers’ enjoyment of a great summer of sports coverage.

Chief Cricket Correspondent of The Times, Mike Atherton, said: "These cricket rights add to the already brilliant sports coverage that The Times and Sunday Times offer. It was a hugely disappointing winter for England and the upcoming series with Sri Lanka gives them the opportunity to rebuild under Peter Moores. It will be fascinating to watch."

The Sun’s chief cricket correspondent, John Etheridge, said: "With a new coach in Peter Moores and captain Alastair Cook under pressure and scrutiny, it is going to be a fascinating summer for England.

"The opposition will be tough - Sri Lanka won the World Twenty20 earlier this month and India have arguably the best batting line-up in the world."
