The Times and Sunday Times - First to release audited…

New official figures from ABC show for the first time the average number of readers enjoying editions of The Times and The Sunday Times daily, on their tablets (iPad and Android).

The figures, for September 2013, show The Times tablet edition was read on average by 67,380 daily readers and The Sunday Times tablet edition by 82,929.

The new figures are calculated using a new industry approved metric for Digital Publications called Publication Active Views (PAVs) which measures the average number of copies of an edition actively viewed.  The Times and The Sunday Times are the first titles to report these numbers using this new ABC service.

The release of these figures via ABC gives visibility of the viewing of The Times and Sunday Times tablet products by those paying for access.  This complements the subscriber sales figures published by News UK last week which showed The Times and Sunday Times reaching over 350,000 subscribers to the print or digital bundles.

Our growing tablet audience creates an attractive proposition for advertisers.  News UK’s recently announced ‘One Sell’ approach makes it simple for advertisers to access audiences across print, tablet, mobile and web.

Paul Hayes, Managing Director of News UK Commercial said: “These figures show that we can offer a compelling advertiser proposition for a tablet product in a subscription environment.

“We can give brands access to a large, segmented, premium subscriber audience that’s closely aligned with our brands and engages regularly with our content. That’s positive news for us and for news brands everywhere.”
